GOD LOVES TALKING TO YOU Genesis 11

GOD LOVES TALKING TO YOU Genesis 11

GOD LOVES TALKING WITH YOU

Genesis 11:1-9

11 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2 As men moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.

3 They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”

5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. 6 The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel — because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
NIV

God is the greatest communicator. He is the author of language. He communicated first with angels then with man his prized creation. We don’t know what the language of angels is or the language God spoke to Adam and Eve. What we do know He took pleasure communicating with Adam and Eve in the cool of the evening,

Man became so sinful that God destroyed all mankind in the flood and restarted a community In righteousness with Noah and his family. God does not tell us what the language was for Noah and his family. What we do know is God communicates clearly with the righteous.

After the covenant God made with Noah of not destroying mankind by water again, He commanded Noah to be fruitful and populated the earth. (Genesis 9:7). What we know Is man had a common language.

MAN WITHOUT GOD WILL DESTROY HIMSELF

339 Years later (according to Our Ancient Path) man decided to stop wondering and build a tower that reached the heavens and make a name for themselves. They started in Turkey and spread south east
To Shiner (Genesis 11:1) which is in Babylon the enemy which in later years would destroy Israel This act of disobedience would cost the nation later. The word Babel means confusion and also gateway to the gods

As man grew into nations, their creative skills increased to match their desires. Noah built an Ark out of wood covered inside and out with tar. This new generation built a tower out of brick With tar as the mortar . The difference is the Ark was God designed to save man but the tower
Was man designed to reject God . The Ark was built out of obedience to God, but Tower was built out of hatred to God.

THERE IS UNSTOPPABLE POWER IN UNITY
5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. 6 The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.

The Key to power is people with the same goals, the same aspirations working together to achieve a common objective. Don’t know what the language was but they all agreed to reject God’s command.

Man attitude changed between the time the people left Noah’s Ark and the building of the Tower of Babel. Let me suggest some things that may have
Happened.
It was 339 years between the time of Ark and the building of the Tower
They hated God’s travel plan
A new generation was born who did not know Noah or God
The events of the flood and the mercy of God was not taught
They came to Shinar a plain in Babylon where idol gods were worshipped
They developed an attitude of pride wanting to make a name for themselves
They planned and built a tower to the heavens for their glory
Having rejected God, there was no accountability

God shows the Church that we can control the world if we all come together in the righteousness of God following the plan of God. Evil men control the world because they all have in common the lust of the eye, lust of the flesh and the pride of life. They work hard to destroy anyone who don’t believe in their schemes .

EVIL MEN MAKES PLANS BUT GOD CAN FRUSTRATE THEM ALL

Man cannot change or alter the plan of God. God’s plan was made without man’s input and carried out with man as He sees fit. The men who God created and allowed growth and prosperity decided to reject Him to show their pride and glory by building a tower to despise Him.

God knows what it takes to destroy our plans and bring us down to earth. The problem was their Hatred of God and their unity in pride. God hates the proud and in due time crush them but with Love and mercy,

GOD’S PLAN TO DESTROY PRIDE AND ENFORCE MERCY
7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel — because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

God has a way to let us now He is in control. The problem was unified pride. The solution was to confused their languages so they could not
Communicate with each other and scatter them across the earth.

What takes man years to build, God destroyed in a moment. The group
Was no longer unified, but scattered groups with different languages,
They no longer had the power or desire to build a tower,

God can easily change our situations and give new more pressing problems to contend with. The individual groups with different languages
Had to learn to community in their language. They were forced on a new
Journey in new places.

God has a way of making us focus on what’s important. God can confuse your mind so you don’t know who you are. Communication
With God is important. Unity with God is important.. Even though God was
Upset. He acted with love and mercy.

Instead of destroying the people, He gave them another chance
God looked and saw Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He saw David. He saw
saw Israel. He saw Jesus dying on the cross. He saw His own people. The Lord saw us, the Church.

They were south east of the land that God planned a nation for them. Some would have to travel north west to enter the land God would promised to Israel. Man sees today and what he wants, but God sees the entire plan of life from eternity Past to eternity future at one time, all the time.

Jeremiah 29:11-12
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you

Any attempt to block God’s plan for your life is to block future blessings for you and your descendants. God knows we are going to mess up, make wrong decisions and be disobedient.

According to Jeremiah 29:11, God has prepared a way for us to get back to Him through prayer.

Let’s talk about the importance of prayer. Work without God is human possibilities. Work with God is unlimited possibilities. This new group of people just out of the Ark started with righteousness of Noah. As they
Traveled the earth and multiplied, that soon forgot the God that helped
Them survived the flood. Without God they became hateful and prideful.

In fact in the garden that Noah planted, sin began again. Noah got drunk
With wine and laid naked in the garden. His younger son Ham saw his fathers nakedness and told others. As a result Cannan the son of
Ham’s generation was cursed( Genesis 9:25).

There are two themes that run throughout the Bible, Righteousness and
Sin. Righteousness will always win. If you look at the time line, Abraham
Might have spent time with Noah when he was around 10 years old
(According to Our Ancient Path web site) There was no brake in the
Communication of God. The new Generation out Noah’s Ark chose
To be disobedient.

Prayer is an encounter with God. Prayer does not eliminate problems
But gives you the strength to endure them. Communicating with God
Through prayer is our life line

Prayer is not a thank you Jesus moment for a blessing. That is an
Encounter with God with no substance. We must develop an attitude of prayer that keeps us attuned with God’s divine directions and wisdom.

Surviving the flood was an encounter with God’s love and compassion.
The God that saved them became the God they hated. Why? Because there was no prayer.

Three things are required for prayer to become apart of your life

You have to make a commitment to prayer.
None of this I don;t have time, you make time for what you want to do

You must make prayer with the almighty God a priority.
I am sure eating is a priority. For some exercise is a priority
The beauty shop, and the barbershop is a priority.
Your job is a priority
None of this is possible without God.

Knowledge of the Benefit of prayer
Prayer puts you in position with God to use you
God has a good work for you
Prayer opens the door to blessings
God can do exceedingly abundantly more than you can ask or conceive
Prayer puts you in the presence of God
He comforts you in times of trouble
He shields you from the evil deeds of the world
He heals you when the doctors have given up
He promised to never leave you or forsake you
He got a mansion prepared for you in heaven

The God we serve loves communicating with us. He gave us the command
To pray without ceasing.

This my first time coming to your blog and overall I think you probably have something important to say, BUT I also think your posts are way too Long winded, and they never seem to get to the point, but tend to be highly redundant. I am not sure if anyone these days has the time or the patience for this style of writing anymore. On social media these days most posts are short and straight to the point

Hey, Eric Miles I am in agreement with you on this one.
I think that the decline of Christianity in the west is largely do to Ministers/Preachers. These guys have not updated their style of communication in a long time. They have failed to translate the gospel message into the language of the people they are trying to reach and instead they continue preaching and speaking in the only way they know how to. It is no wonder that church membership in USA, Canada, and England has dropped and will continue to do so.

    • revmmitchell

Thanks for your comments Continue to study the word and share with others. Your sharing will draw others to Christ

Wait a minute recent studies have shown that the the so called decline of Christianity has actually leveled off and although some people where leaving organized Christian denomination many of those same people were not giving up on faith in God, just faith the earthly christian congregations, western conservative theology and political parties.

      Thanks for your comments.
The key to living a Christian life is faith in God. The devil and his demons know God. Those who love
must believe that He is and is a rewarder of their faith. What you and I can do is to encourage others is to continue to express our faith and let God do the rest I pray God’s blessing on your life

This site has super fresh modern look and it is so easy to navigate, too! Good job!

But, I also think that the Donation button at the top of this site make it site look like scam. I mean there is no explanation of what the donations are going to nor any or any reasons given why one should want to donate in the first place.

    • revmmitchell

      Thanks for your comments

My purpose is to share the Word of God. There are many ministries that your donations will benefit. I placed the donation button there for those who want share . I prefer that you read for learning only. My hope is that you share the Word with others.

  9. Mr. Nice Guy

Today’s study was on Genesis, but yet you mention the church? I have searched and searched Genesis but I see no mention of ‘church’ nor of Christians for that matter.

    • Peter the Christian

Mr. Nice Guy it is better to understand the Bible from the view point of the covenants or of the seven Dispensations. What are the seven Dispensation? Good question and here my friend is a good answer:

The first dispensation is called the Dispensation of Innocence (Genesis 1:28-30 and 2:15-17). This dispensation covered the period of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. In this dispensation God’s commands were to (1) fill the earth with children, (2) subdue the earth, (3) have dominion over the animals, (4) care for the garden, and (5) abstain from eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God warned of the punishment of physical and spiritual death for disobedience. This dispensation came to an end when Adam and Eve disobeyed in eating the forbidden fruit and were expelled from the garden.

The second dispensation is called the Dispensation of Conscience, and it lasted about 1,656 years from the time of Adam and Eve’s eviction from the garden until the flood (Genesis 3:8–8:22). This dispensation demonstrates what mankind will do if left to his own will and conscience, which have been tainted by the inherited sin nature. The five major aspects of this dispensation are 1) a curse on the serpent, 2) a change in womanhood and childbearing, 3) a curse on nature, 4) the imposing of difficult work on mankind to produce food, and 5) the promise of Christ as the seed who will bruise the serpent’s head (Satan).

The third dispensation is the Dispensation of Human Government, which began in Genesis 8. God had destroyed life on earth with a flood, saving just one family to restart the human race. God made the following promises and commands to Noah and his family:

      1. God will not curse the earth again.
      2. Noah and family are to replenish the earth with people.
      3. They shall have dominion over the animal creation.
      4. They are allowed to eat meat.
      5. The law of capital punishment is established.
      6. There never will be another worldwide flood.
      7. The sign of God’s promise will be the rainbow.

Noah’s descendants did not scatter and fill the earth as God had commanded, thus failing in their responsibility in this dispensation. About 325 years after the flood, the earth’s inhabitants began building a tower, a great monument to their solidarity and pride (Genesis 11:7-9). God brought the construction to a halt, creating different languages and enforcing His command to fill the earth. The result was the rise of different nations and cultures. From that point on, human governments have been a reality.

The fourth dispensation, called the Dispensation of Promise, started with the call of Abraham, continued through the lives of the patriarchs, and ended with the Exodus of the Jewish people from Egypt, a period of about 430 years. During this dispensation God developed a great nation that He had chosen as His people (Genesis 12:1–Exodus 19:25).

The basic promise during the Dispensation of Promise was the Abrahamic Covenant. Here are some of the key points of that unconditional covenant:

      1. From Abraham would come a great nation that God would bless with natural and spiritual prosperity.
      2. God would make Abraham’s name great.
      3. God would bless those that blessed Abraham’s descendants and curse those that cursed them.
      4. In Abraham all the families of the earth will be blessed. This is fulfilled in Jesus Christ and His work of salvation.
      5. The sign of the covenant is circumcision.
      6. This covenant, which was repeated to Isaac and Jacob, is confined to the Hebrew people and the 12 tribes of Israel.

The fifth dispensation is called the Dispensation of Law. It lasted almost 1,500 years, from the Exodus until it was suspended after Jesus Christ’s death. This dispensation will continue during the Millennium, with some modifications. During the Dispensation of Law, God dealt specifically with the Jewish nation through the Mosaic Covenant, or the Law, found in Exodus 19–23. The dispensation involved temple worship directed by priests, with further direction spoken through God’s mouthpieces, the prophets. Eventually, due to the people’s disobedience to the covenant, the tribes of Israel lost the Promised Land and were subjected to bondage.

The sixth dispensation, the one in which we now live, is the Dispensation of Grace. It began with the New Covenant in Christ’s blood (Luke 22:20). This “Age of Grace” or “Church Age” occurs between the 69th and 70th week of Daniel 9:24. It starts with the coming of the Spirit on the Day of Pentecost and ends with the Rapture of the church (1 Thessalonians 4). This dispensation is worldwide and includes both Jews and the Gentiles. Man’s responsibility during the Dispensation of Grace is to believe in Jesus, the Son of God (John 3:18). In this dispensation the Holy Spirit indwells believers as the Comforter (John 14:16-26). This dispensation has lasted for almost 2,000 years, and no one knows when it will end. We do know that it will end with the Rapture of all born-again believers from the earth to go to heaven with Christ. Following the Rapture will be the judgments of God lasting for seven years.

The seventh dispensation is called the Millennial Kingdom of Christ and will last for 1,000 years as Christ Himself rules on earth. This Kingdom will fulfill the prophecy to the Jewish nation that Christ will return and be their King. The only people allowed to enter the Kingdom are the born-again believers from the Age of Grace, righteous survivors of the seven years of tribulation, and the resurrected Old Testament saints. No unsaved person is allowed access into this kingdom. Satan is bound during the 1,000 years. This period ends with the final judgment (Revelation 20:11-14). The old world is destroyed by fire, and the New Heaven and New Earth of Revelation 21 and 22 will begin.

      • Richard

I am not sure if Rev Mitchell would agree with your concept of the dispensations, but it does seem interesting. However, having said that the blog post did not mention the concept of the dispensations. Of course it is clear that there are different time periods in the Bible.

        • revmmitchell

Thanks for your comments . Dispenstions are a lesson by themselves There are 7 in the Bible some count 8.
innocence, conscience, human government, promise, law. grace and the kingdom and some add new heaven and new earth. Each is a lesson to be taught at different times. I do appreciate you comments. Continue studing God’s and you will bless others and be blessed

  10. Man of the Covenant

People like me who accept Covenant theology rather than silly dispensation theology(haha don’t believe that!), see the Bible as a unified whole. As a central theme of God’s covenantal relationship with his people. We assert that every part of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, interconnects and points to the redemptive work of Christ. Also, Covenant theologians affirm that the promises made to Abraham, for instance, find ultimate fulfillment in Christ and his church, as stated in Galatians 3:16.

In Covenant theology, believers understand God’s promises as fulfilled in the church, which comprises both Jews and Gentiles. This theological framework asserts that Christ and his church have fulfilled all of God’s promises, including those made to Israel, as depicted in Ephesians 2:14-16. According to this passage, Christ dismantled the barrier between Jews and Gentiles, creating a new, unified humanity.

Covenant theologians argue that Galatians 3:29 establishes the church as the spiritual descendants of Abraham and the true Israel. They believe that through Christ and his church, God fulfilled the promises he made to Abraham, rendering physical Israel no longer God’s chosen people. This perspective emphasizes the continuity between the Old and New Testaments, with promises made in the former ultimately realized in Christ and his church in the latter.

In Covenant theology, believers view the return of Christ and the final judgment as a single event. They believe that God’s plan for the end times centers around the church. As a result, the church will have to endure tribulation and persecution before the return of Christ. This judgment will apply to both believers and non-believers, as stated in 2 Corinthians 5:10 and Revelation 7:14.

I am happy everyone has an opinion to share, but let’s remember that there is only one true church that is the Catholic Church. And, might I add that the Catholic Church is the Church Triumphant! If you are outside of the Catholic Church you are lost. The Catholic Church preserved the Bible and the correct interpretations of the Bible. Rather than theological opinions in the Catholic Church you will find answers and truth! So, I plead with everyone here including the blog owner Rev Mitchell to take seriously the claims of the Catholic Church and to come back to the one and only true faith!

    • Seeker of the Truth

Dominic thank you. For a long time I have wondered where to find the truth church! There are so many different denominations all with conflicting beliefs. So, I have often worried about attending and joining the man made religions. I want to be part of the one true Church. I am going to start learning more about the Catholic faith from today!

      • Richard

If you want to know the truth then pray that the LORD will open your eyes more and more as you search the scriptures for yourself. You can also listen to sermons, read study bible notes, and commentaries, but keep in mind that people will have their biases.

        • Richard

In the NT we see local congregations or ‘Churches’ but we do not see a ‘Catholic’ church. Now, as for instructions on how to enter the Church or become a Christian we see simple instruction to ‘believe and be baptized’ (Mark 16:16) or ‘repent and be baptized’ (Acts 2:38).

          • Action Jackson

Amen and Amen Richard! This is what the Bible says! John 3:16 makes this clear, too! However, John 3:16 mentions neither the need to repent nor the need to be baptized, BUT part of Believing in Jesus is following what he commanded.

  12. The Ethical Atheist

Hey, Action Jackson I am not sure why you don’t see that the verses you quoted contradicting
each other! Believe and Repent are not the same, and John 3:16 says nothing of baptism. Come on guys accept the fact and you will be free!
